Originally commissioned by Kent NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups as part of the Kent Local Transformation plan for Children, Young People and Young Adult’s Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health, the Fantastic FRED Experience sought to address a lack of practical and readily available mental health resources for primary schools.
Its origins and conceptual foundations include independent clinical review and approval, as well as wide-ranging and multi-stakeholder engagement with teachers, parents, education and health professionals, consultants and commissioners.

After extensive consultation, research and development, The Fantastic FRED Experience was formally launched and made available at no cost to all Kent primary schools.
Specifically designed to inform, equip and build resilience, the resource delivers simple and practical ways for young children to look after their mental health via a live educational, interactive theatrical performance.
The Fantastic FRED Experience has been developed and tested to engage children in both Key Stages 1 & 2. It is designed intentionally as a special experience to provide a memorable learning moment for all of the children who it serves. It is deliberately fun, interactive and immersive to facilitate long term recall of key emotional resilience messages.
